根據2020年教育部頒布的《大學英語教學指南》，大學英語的教學目標是“培養學生的英語應用能力，增強跨文化交際意識和交際能力，同時發展自主學習能力、提高綜合文化素養，培養人文精神和思辨能力”。英語演講能力正是“學生英語應用能力，跨文化交際意識和交際能力”的綜合體現。《英文演講》已成為大學英語課程體系中非常重要的課程。為了適應新時代的社會需求和教學要求，我們編寫了本教材。
